Adjuvants & Formulations

Bimonthly newsletter for agchem specialists (former Adjuvant Newsletter)

March / April 2016

ISAA 2016 highlights trends in adjuvants and formulations
Adjuvants can significantly improve the performance of crop protection products. Farmers and formulators enhance the efficacy of sprays by using these products as tank-mix or in-can. The science behind these additives and their smart application are the subjects of a five-day symposium in Monterey, California (USA). From June 13 to June 17, specialists from research and industry will share here the latest trends and developments in this rapidly changing field.

A peachy defence system for seeds
Swiss researchers have developed a grain coating that mimicks the feeding-triggered release of hydrogen cyanide found for example in bitter almonds. The defence system proved effective against larvae of mealworm, Indian mealmoth and lesser grain borer, but not against wheat weevil.

Patents in brief
Polish researchers seek patent protection for a formulation of the biostimulants salicylic acid and acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). American formulators have developed an emamectin benzoate formulation with penetration enhancer for tree injection. Adjuvants & Formulations also reports about patent pending defoamers, and other adjuvants that are applicable as built-in adjuvant, as tank-mix adjuvant or both, including a microfibrillar cellulose adjuvant. In this issue also news about aqueous insecticidal microemulsions, about aqueous glufosinate formulations and about ion exchange resins as delivery system.
