The rising star of the spray drone

Drone spraying is booming in East Asia. This is reflected in the many Chinese studies and patent applications related to spraying crop protection products with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Interest in this method of pesticide application is also growing elsewhere. Adjuvants & Formulations reports on the rapid developments in this novel application method and what has been investigated so far in terms of adjuvants and formulations.

Tank mixtures of dicamba and glyphosate are less effective

A tank mixture of glyphosate and dicamba is less effective in Palmer amaranth control than dicamba alone and less effective in barnyardgrass control than glyphosate alone. The control of four other weed species was not affected by combining both herbicides. Adjuvants & Formulations presents these and other findings of a study into the effects of tank mixtures of these active ingredients.

More news in this issue:

  • Improved slow release formulation of MCPA
  • Covalent organic frameworks for the loading of the herbicide cyhalofop-butyl
  • Novel temperature-sensitive fertiliser controlled-release system based on PNIPAM and potassium alginate
  • Novel carboxylated cellulose nanocrystals as a green solid emulsifier for oil-in-water Pickering emulsion
  • Water-in-oil Pickering emulsions for enzyme encapsulation
  • Liposomes based on hydrophilic emulsifiers and lecithin as carrier for active ingredients
  • Cell penetrating peptides as a tool for more efficient insect control

Patents in brief

Rain patterns are changing worldwide. In addition, showers are intensifying in several regions. Over the past ten years, many patent applications have been filed with regard to rainfastness of agrochemical formulations and/or adjuvants that improve this characteristic, whether or not with a view to climate change. Up to now, however, the phenomenon of altering precipitation patterns is hardly or not mentioned in patent publications. Adjuvants & Formulations summarizes briefly the three youngest rainfastness-related patent applications.

Adjuvants & Formulations also reports about activities of other companies as well as universities, such as:

  • Adjuvant that is both hydrophilic and lipophilic
  • Adjuvant for biopesticides
  • Improved formulations for herbicides, fungicides and insecticides
  • Overview of recent patent publications with brief summary
