Adjuvants & Formulations

Bimonthly newsletter for agchem specialists (former Adjuvant Newsletter)

May / June 2015

Seed coating additives improve germination in dry soil
Seeds do not or hardly germinate in dry soil. Moisture regulating agents in the seed coating can greatly improve germination under dry conditions. Adjuvants & Formulations has mapped out some of the most interesting approaches. A quick patent scan completes this survey.

Patents in brief
British formulators seek patent protection for dicarboxylic acid derivatives to 'structure' low aqueous and substantially non-aqueous suspension concentrates. Adjuvants & Formulations also reports about alternatives to polysorbate adjuvants, novel polysaccharide ether adjuvants, a crystal growth inhibitor for picolinafen, an adjuvant system for low-volume oil spray mixtures and a herbicidal active ingredient as stabiliser in a liquid metsulforum-methyl formulation. In this issue also news about granules that are built up from sub-particles, about liposomes and even about CO2 foliar fertiliser formulations.

Apps: WeedSmart
An adjuvant selector or an application tool – app stores have dozens of useful and interesting applications for mobile devices. In this issue the WeedSmart app, an application for Australian arable farmers to assess herbicide resistance and weed seed bank risk.
